Macedon Memorial Cross Group Hike

Join knowledgeable Parks Victoria volunteers and challenge yourself with the McGregor's Loop Walk Macedon Regional Park.
This trail is 9.5 km and will take you along a circuit through beautiful forest, up to the Memorial Cross, the historical survey cairn and the picturesque Western and Major Mitchell lookouts. Learn about some of the fascinating history of the park as well as the local flora and fauna that inhabit the beautiful Macedon area.
You can join this walk as a once-off to explore somewhere new, or include it as a regular part of your wellbeing or fitness routine to build up your hiking skills.
The walk takes approximately 3.5-4 hours and is a moderate level trail, with some steep inclines and uneven terrain.
The meeting point is at McGregor's Picnic Ground carpark off Cameron Drive. There is a toilet at the picnic ground and also the halfway point Harbison Picnic Ground where you can stop for a morning tea break (BYO food).
With fresh mountain air comes fresh mountain weather! Temperatures are usually several degrees cooler than in Melbourne, and conditions can change rapidly. Wear appropriate clothing, including warm clothes and a rain coat. Enclosed walking shoes such as sneakers or hiking boots are essential due to the uneven terrain and this track is muddy following rainy weather. If you own hiking poles and these assist you for general walks, feel free to bring these along. And of course remember your water bottle, sunscreen and BYO morning tea/snacks to keep you going during the walk.
