Creative Embellishment using Collage and Stitch

In this two day workshop we will be preparing an area of fabric using piecing and surface collage techniques including surface appliqué. Using this prepared area of cloth as a base we will embellish the surface using numerous embroidery stitches and a variety of thread thicknesses - literally drawing with stitch.

We will explore colour, composition and piecing techniques.Our embellished fabric can then be used to make a shoulder bag, tote bag or cover for your sketch book.

REQUIREMENTS LIST FOR TRUDY’S CLASS

Small amount of cotton fabrics in coordinated colours (florals, stripes and plains)- There is a box of fabrics available at the studio for participants to select from as well.

Hand embroidery threads in varying weights – stranded, perle variegated etc.- a large selection of these are available at the studio as well for participant use

Sewing machine if you have one. (I will have one that we can share if you don’t have one).

Machine threads to suit your colour selection of fabrics.

Sewing kit – pins, needles, scissors etc - A set available at the studio for participant use as well

Notebook and pen, lunch.

Supplied by TUTOR

Trudy will supply backing fabric, some felts and a selection of fabric scraps

Most important of all are your ideas of what you would like to make – Tote bag, Shoulder bag, Notebook cover or cushion etc.

The workshop will commence at 10:00am & finish at 4:00pm each day. ( please be ther before 10 as we start at 10 each day.)

Morning tea & snacks will be provided. Please wear closed in shoes on both days.
